The mentoring of students who are participators in the Gifted Learner Programme is continuing. During these sessions, students, with the support of their mentor teacher, examines their learning style, challenges to their learning and how they can develop their capacities and skills as a gifted learner. Short term goals and expectations are also examined during these meetings. We wish everyone who is involved in this initiative every success.
TY students participated in a study skills workshop called Study Smart to assist them in their preparations for 5th year learning. During the day, students also took part in a digital literacy course.
TY academic reviews which started last term will be completed over the next two weeks. Students will continue to meet with their class teachers to discuss their recent assessment results, expectations for 5th year and how to manage their learning in TY. Thank you to everyone for facilitating these meetings.
Thank you to everyone who participated in Kindness week. Many activities were organised throughout the week by both students and teachers. Students participated in mindful colouring, compliment jars, positive reflection sheets and post its. The culmination of the week involved the raising of the Cineáltas Flag which was overseen by our Head Girls. Thank you to everyone who made this week such a meaningful week. It is very much appreciated.
Our incoming first year students visited our school today to experience a Christ King learning day. It is hoped everyone enjoyed the experience of sampling an extensive repertoire of subjects and activities. Thank you to our senior students who acted as mentors and to our teachers for their unfailing commitment and dedication.
5th year students will work with 2nd year students in the coming months as part of the learning leaders’ initiative.
Christ King Board of Studies carried out parental and student surveys on school curriculum development in senior cycle. Thank you to all our parents and students who provided such valuable feedback in their responses.
The first cohort of transition year students have now been trained as LIFT facilitators and have been running round table sessions with second year students since October. The leadership values they shared were listening, respect and positive attitude.
5th & 6th year students participated in a study skills session recently which was facilitated by a member of our teaching staff. Students reflected on their learning, expectations in their learning, resilience and overcoming obstacles when faced with difficult learning tasks. It is hoped that the students found the workshop of benefit in their learning.
Christ King teachers took part in an online professional development session facilitated by OIDE. During the day, teachers examined teaching methodologies which support high quality teaching, learning and leadership. Thank you to our teachers for giving this valuable time to professional development.
